Steinway Festival 2012: Gwilym Simcock & Yaron Herman / John Law & Mark Pringle
Show Time 8:30pm / Doors Open 7:00pm

Born in the same year and both brilliant pianists Yaron and Gwilym could not come from more different backgrounds. Welsh born Gwilym was a piano child prodigy who was playing big classical halls by the age of 11 and studied at Chethams school for gifted musicians. Yaron aspired to be a professional basketball player in his homeland of Israel, but an injury at the age of 16 saw him shift gear to the piano. Now at just 30, and signed to the same label ACT, both are recognised amongst the leading lights in jazz piano anywhere in the world.
John Law ("One of Europe's most adventurous pianists" the Times) and rising new piano star Mark Pringle will be performing pieces from their new, stunning CD. This recording features, alongside original compositions of theirs, compositions by Bach, Metheny, Lyle Mays and Cole Porter. Powerful pianism coupled with delicate, contemporary harmonies.
